A draft of Pakistan’s new Auto Policy 2026-31 proposes a phased reduction in import duties on hybrid vehicles over the next five years.

According to the draft document, duties on hybrid vehicles above 1,800cc could be reduced to 30% in stages over five years. The proposal covers hybrid vehicles in several engine-capacity categories.

Proposed Duty Changes for Hybrid Cars

For hybrid vehicles with engine capacities between 1,501cc and 1,800cc, the draft proposes gradually reducing the duty by up to 20%.

For vehicles with engine capacities between 851cc and 1,000cc, the duty could be reduced in phases to 30%.

The draft also proposes cutting the duty on hybrid vehicles up to 800cc from 50% to 30% over five years.

Proposed Changes for Hybrid Commercial Vehicles

The draft policy also includes proposed duty reductions for hybrid commercial vehicles.

Duties on hybrid trucks could be reduced from 30% to 15% over the next five years.

For high-roof commercial vehicles, the proposed duty reduction is from 60% to 30% during the same period.

The draft further proposes reducing duties on hybrid buses from 30% to 15% over five years.

The proposals are contained in the draft Auto Policy 2026-31 and represent the suggested phased duty structure for hybrid vehicles and commercial transport.
