Bollywood comedy actor Rajpal Yadav faced strong criticism from the Indian Supreme Court after he failed to deposit money despite a court order in a cheque-bounce case.
According to reports, the court had given the actor two weeks to deposit ₹2 crore, but the payment was not made within the prescribed period.
Judge Issues Strong Warning
During the hearing, Rajpal Yadav’s lawyer reportedly said that the complainant was “not poor.”
Justice Joymalya Bagchi responded strongly, saying, “You should know when to speak. You belong in jail.”
The court has now ordered Rajpal Yadav to deposit the required amount by Tuesday.
Case Dates Back to 2010
The case relates to financial assistance of ₹5 crore obtained in 2010 for a film and cheques that were subsequently issued but bounced.
The latest proceedings concern the failure to comply with the court’s order to deposit ₹2 crore within the given period.
