Actress Janhvi Kapoor has spoken out against an AI-generated and altered video of “Chuttamalle,” a song from her film “Devara: Part 1,” describing it as a serious example of technology being misused against women.
A deepfake version of the song has been circulating on the social media platform X in recent days. The original “Chuttamalle” featured Janhvi Kapoor and Jr NTR, while the circulating video has been digitally altered using artificial intelligence.
Violation of Personal Boundaries
In a detailed statement, Janhvi Kapoor said portraying a woman in an objectionable manner without her consent and distributing fabricated or altered material is deeply distressing and a violation of her personal boundaries.
She said the criminal misuse of technology to portray women in such a manner is “extremely painful and close to sexual assault.”
Women Facing Similar Situations
Janhvi Kapoor said that almost every woman in her industry has faced some form of such a situation, adding that women around the world are increasingly becoming targets of similar incidents.
She stressed that consent, choice and respect for a woman’s body should be fundamental human values.
Respect for Women’s Boundaries
According to Janhvi Kapoor, it is unfortunate that these basic principles are still treated as complicated issues when they should not be.
She further said that every woman’s personal boundaries must be respected under all circumstances and that respect should have nothing to do with what she chooses to wear.
