The Lahore High Court has granted major relief to Ramsha Iqbal, sister of actress Momina Iqbal, by setting aside a decision to register a case against her.
Justice Abher Gul heard a petition filed by Ramsha Iqbal challenging the decision to register a case against her at Bhawana Police Station in connection with allegations of breach of trust.
Arguments Over Rs8 Million
During the hearing, the counsel for MPA Saqib Chadhar argued that Rs8 million had been deposited into Ramsha Iqbal’s bank account at different times.
Justice Abher Gul asked the counsel on what basis the money had been deposited and whether it had been given as a loan or out of friendship.
The counsel stated that Ramsha Iqbal was planning to travel abroad and that the money had been deposited for the purpose of showing a bank statement. The counsel also mentioned that actress Momina Iqbal had been engaged to Saqib Chadhar.
Court Questions Documentation
The court asked whether any written agreement or documentation had been prepared when the money was transferred.
The counsel replied that the money had been given as an amanat, or entrusted amount, rather than as a loan.
Ramsha Iqbal’s Position
Ramsha Iqbal, however, maintained that the amount being discussed had already been withdrawn from her bank account in 2022.
After hearing the arguments, the Lahore High Court annulled the decision to register a case against Ramsha Iqbal and accepted her appeal.
