Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has received approval to operate a Boeing 787 aircraft in Pakistan for the first time after aviation officials completed an inspection at Oslo Airport in Norway.
According to details, a delegation led by Civil Aviation Authority Director General Nader Shafi Dar inspected the aircraft and cleared it for operations.
Two More Aircraft Scheduled for Inspection
PIA’s second Boeing 787 aircraft is scheduled to be inspected at Oslo Airport on Monday, while the third aircraft is set to undergo inspection at London Airport on November 20.
Earlier this month, PIA signed an agreement with Norwegian aviation group Norse Atlantic to acquire two Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft. The move aims to expand the airline’s long-haul capacity between Pakistan and the United Kingdom.
First Boeing 787 Flight on October 31
PIA will operate its first Boeing 787 flight on October 31. Flight PK-786 will depart from London for Islamabad and is expected to arrive with passengers on November 1.
The airline will also introduce a new uniform for its staff on the same day as it begins operations with the new aircraft.
Expansion of International Operations
The addition of three Boeing 787 aircraft is expected to strengthen PIA’s international network and help improve services for passengers.
The airline is also working to upgrade the cabins of its Boeing 777 fleet to enhance the passenger experience on long-haul routes.
