Smartphone maker Tecno has expanded its Spark 50 lineup with two new models, the Spark 50s and Spark 50C. Both devices feature FreeLink 2.0 technology, which allows users to make calls and send text messages without a cellular network or Wi-Fi connection within a range of up to 1.5km.
The Spark 50s joins the existing Spark 50 4G, Spark 50 5G and Spark 50 Pro, while the Spark 50C is a new addition to the series.
FreeLink 2.0 Enables Offline Communication
According to Tecno, FreeLink 2.0 allows compatible Tecno smartphones to communicate directly without relying on conventional mobile networks or Wi-Fi.
The technology could prove useful in locations where traditional network coverage is unavailable. However, its effective range and performance may vary depending on conditions.
Display and Design
Both smartphones feature 6.78-inch HD+ LCD displays with a 120Hz refresh rate.
The Spark 50s has a centrally positioned punch-hole selfie camera and carries an IP64 Pro rating along with MIL-STD-810H certification. It will be available in Breeze Blue and Burgundy Red.
The Spark 50C supports touch input with wet or oily hands. It also offers IP68 and IP69 dust and water resistance ratings. The phone comes in Burgundy Red, Forge Orange, Basalt Titanium and Eclipse Black.
Processors, Memory and Software
The Spark 50s is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 6400 chipset and runs HiOS 16 based on Android 16.
It is available with 6GB or 8GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. A dedicated microSD card slot supports storage expansion of up to 2TB.
Other features include a side-mounted fingerprint scanner and an all-scenario noise cancellation system.
The Spark 50C is a 4G smartphone powered by the MediaTek Helio G81 chipset. It runs Android 16-based HiOS 16 and comes with 4GB of RAM and storage options of 64GB, 128GB and 256GB.
Additional features include dual stereo speakers, AI-powered call noise cancellation and an infrared blaster.
Camera Specifications
The Spark 50s features a 50-megapixel primary rear camera accompanied by an LED flash. An 8-megapixel front camera handles selfies and video calls.
The Spark 50C has a 13-megapixel rear camera and an 8-megapixel front-facing camera.
Battery and Charging
The Spark 50s packs a 6,500mAh battery with support for 45W fast charging. It also supports reverse wired charging and bypass charging.
The Spark 50C comes with a 5,200mAh battery and supports 15W charging.
Pricing and Availability
The Tecno Spark 50s with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage is priced at approximately $211. The 8GB RAM and 128GB storage variant costs around $242.
The Spark 50C will be offered in three configurations: 4GB RAM with 64GB, 128GB or 256GB of storage.
Tecno has not yet announced the price or availability date for the Spark 50C.
