Toyota has discontinued the current Corolla model in Pakistan, raising the possibility that a new facelift version could soon be introduced in the local market.
Automakers typically stop production of an outgoing model before introducing an updated version. Recent spy shots of a Corolla have also strengthened expectations of another facelift.
However, Toyota has so far officially confirmed only the discontinuation of the current model.
What Do the Spy Shots Show?
Recent spy shots suggest that the spotted Corolla is based on the existing 11th-generation model but features several exterior changes.
The images show a revised front grille, redesigned bumpers and new alloy wheels. Minor changes to the rear bumper are also visible.
The spotted vehicle also appears to have front parking sensors, a feature not available on the outgoing model.
Interior changes are also possible, although the interior was not clearly visible in the spy shots. The complete list of features, specifications and interior updates will only become clear after Toyota officially unveils the model.
Third Facelift for the Current Corolla
If introduced in Pakistan, the new version would become the third facelift of the current-generation Corolla.
The first facelift was introduced in August 2017, featuring a new chrome front grille, LED headlights with daytime running lights, redesigned tail lamps and dual SRS airbags across the lineup.
The second facelift was launched as the Corolla X in January 2021. It featured a full black interior on higher trims, extended front and rear bumper lips and a body styling kit.
Based on the spy shots, the potential third facelift could feature a revised grille, new alloy wheels, front parking sensors and minor bumper changes.
No Official Announcement Yet
The discontinuation of the current Corolla, combined with the recent spy shots, has strengthened expectations of another facelift. However, Toyota Pakistan has not officially announced the new model.
The company has also not released any teaser or promotional material for the new model on its social media platforms.
11th-Generation Corolla May Continue
Toyota moved the Corolla to its 12th generation in global markets in 2018. However, the expected facelift in Pakistan suggests the company may not have immediate plans to introduce that generation in the local market.
Instead, Toyota appears likely to extend the life of the existing 11th-generation Corolla with another exterior update.
