The government has resolved 11,695 pending applications related to the transition from net metering to net billing, providing relief to solar consumers.
According to the Power Division, a total of 16,654 applications were pending for the transition from net metering to net billing. The Pakistan Information Technology Company directly contacted 11,695 consumers through messages and WhatsApp regarding their applications.
Consumers Can Check Application Status Online
Solar consumers can now check the status of their net metering applications through the online portal, according to the Power Division.
The department has also advised consumers not to pay any fee to anyone for faster processing of their applications.
Government Aims to Protect Consumers from Agents
According to the Power Division spokesperson, direct contact with consumers is intended to protect them from agents and unnecessary interference.
The verification process is primarily aimed at protecting the rights of eligible consumers and preventing illegal connections.
Government Supports Solar Energy
Federal Energy Minister Owais Leghari said the government strongly supports solar energy and the promotion of renewable energy.
He said the government does not want to create hurdles in the way of solarisation. Instead, it wants to establish a transparent and sustainable system for consumers.
The latest measures are part of efforts to process pending applications while ensuring greater transparency in the transition from net metering to net billing.
