Apple has unveiled the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max at its “Surprise and Shine” event, with higher starting prices and significant battery performance improvements.
Pricing and Availability
The iPhone 18 Pro starts at $1,199, while the iPhone 18 Pro Max starts at $1,299. Both models come with 256GB of base storage.
The starting prices are $100 higher than last year’s iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max, which started at $1,099 and $1,199, respectively.
For the first time, Apple is also offering a 2TB storage option on both Pro models.
Pre-orders will begin on September 12, with the new phones becoming available on September 18.
Faster Charging and Longer Battery Life
Apple has placed a strong focus on battery performance with the new iPhone 18 Pro lineup.
Rich Dinh, Apple’s vice president of Hardware Engineering, said the iPhone 18 Pro can reach 50% charge in 15 minutes. He added that just five minutes of charging can provide around six hours of video playback.
Despite its smaller size, the iPhone 18 Pro offers battery life comparable to the previous iPhone 17 Pro Max, according to the company.
Apple says the iPhone 18 Pro can last around 24 hours under typical use, while the iPhone 18 Pro Max can reach approximately 30 hours.
For video playback, the Pro model offers up to 36 hours, while the Pro Max reaches a reported 45 hours.
Key iPhone 18 Pro Features
Both new Pro models feature Apple’s A20 Pro chip, built using a 2-nanometer process. Apple says the chip delivers improved performance and thermal management.
The phones also introduce a 48-megapixel Main Fusion camera with variable aperture, described in the source as the biggest camera upgrade in years.
The iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max will be available in black, silver, glacier and a new burgundy color.
