Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Muhammad Sohail Afridi has said he will not bow before anyone and will continue to follow the principles of PTI founder Imran Khan.
Addressing participants of the long march in Karak, Afridi said Imran Khan was enduring hardships in jail for the people and that they would continue the struggle for “real freedom” until the end.
Long March Moves Toward Kohat
Afridi said the second day of the long march had begun and the participants would move toward Kohat.
Referring to criticism against him, he said, “If standing with my people is foolishness, I will commit this foolishness again and again.”
He added that if love for the country was considered foolishness, he rejected what he described as such “so-called wisdom.”
Criticism of State Institutions
Afridi alleged that institutions were not performing their assigned responsibilities, claiming that courts were not delivering justice and police had become personal servants.
He also criticized the role of the military, saying it was performing functions beyond maintaining peace and security in the country.
He said soldiers who sacrifice their lives for the country were an integral part of the nation, but added that they opposed every policy that was not in the public interest.
Concerns Over Security Situation in KP
Afridi said he was witnessing strong public resentment against what he described as an outdated system across the country and maintained that the government would have to accept their democratic demands.
He said they had previously warned against resettling terrorists, claiming that otherwise Khyber Pakhtunkhwa would once again face bloodshed.
According to Afridi, the situation had now reached a point where pressure was again being placed on the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government for a military operation.
Warning Over Possible Return of Terrorism
Afridi alleged that imposing terrorism on Khyber Pakhtunkhwa again was a deliberate plan that could result in bloodshed, displacement, destruction of business centres and drone attacks.
He claimed that the objective of such developments was to pave the way for a military operation.
Referring to his political stance, Afridi said he was a “player of Imran Khan” and recalled that the PTI founder had told the United States “absolutely not.”
He said he had similarly told powerful forces “absolutely not.”
