KARACHI: Gold prices in Pakistan recorded another increase, with the price of 24-karat gold rising by Rs800 per tola to reach Rs457,336 per tola on August 10, 2026.
According to the local bullion market, the price of 24-karat gold also increased by Rs685 per 10 grams, reaching Rs392,091.
Gold rates in major cities, including Karachi, Lahore, Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Quetta and Multan, remained broadly around the same level, although slight variations of a few hundred rupees may occur in local markets.
21-Karat Gold Price
The price of 21-karat gold is also influenced by international and local gold rates. On August 10, 2026, 21-karat gold was priced at approximately Rs392,434 per tola, while 10 grams of 21-karat gold was approximately Rs336,456.
21-karat gold contains approximately 87.5% pure gold, with the remaining portion consisting of other metals that help make jewellery stronger and more durable.
Gold Also Rises in International Market
Gold prices also increased in the international market. The international price of gold rose by $8 to $4,349 per ounce, while a premium of around $20 was included in the Pakistani market price.
Gold prices in Pakistan are influenced by international gold rates, the value of the Pakistani rupee against the US dollar, local demand and supply, and other economic factors.
Silver Prices
Meanwhile, the price of 24-karat silver in Pakistan stood at Rs6,903 per tola, while the price of 10 grams of silver was recorded at Rs5,918.
What Determines Gold Prices?
Several factors influence gold prices in Pakistan. International gold prices, the value of the Pakistani rupee against the US dollar, interest rates, demand and supply, and investor behaviour can all cause daily fluctuations in gold rates.
During periods of economic uncertainty, investors often consider gold a safe-haven asset, which can increase demand for the precious metal. Since Pakistan is an importer of gold, a depreciation of the Pakistani rupee can also contribute to higher domestic gold prices.
Gold is widely used in Pakistan not only as an investment and a store of value but also for jewellery. Demand for jewellery can also influence overall demand and prices in the gold market.
Future Gold Prices Difficult to Predict
Predicting future gold prices in Pakistan is difficult because the local market is continuously affected by international gold prices, currency exchange rates, economic conditions and investor sentiment.
In recent periods, fluctuations in the value of the Pakistani rupee, along with domestic and global economic and political uncertainty, have contributed to significant volatility in gold prices.
Gold is considered an important store of value around the world and has been regarded as a symbol of wealth and economic stability for thousands of years.
