Urdu Report Desk
Islamabad has been placed on high security alert following the failure of negotiations between the government and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), with authorities deciding to deploy additional containers at the federal capital’s entry points.
Containers are already positioned along key roads and around the Red Zone, while preparations are underway to bring more containers to major entry routes into the city.
Additional Security Personnel Deployed
Police personnel called in from Sindh are already present in Islamabad, while personnel arriving from Punjab have been placed on standby.
As the PTI long march approaches Islamabad, the city’s entry points are expected to be blocked with containers and barbed wire.
Rangers Deployment Extended
The deployment of Rangers in Islamabad has also been extended from October 5 to October 15. Around 3,000 personnel will remain deployed in the capital until October 15.
Interior Minister Issues Warning
Earlier, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi said during a press conference that the government would not allow a repeat of the May 9 events under any circumstances.
Naqvi blamed Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi for the breakdown of the negotiations and said he would be responsible if any life was lost.
He said the province was facing a war-like situation while the KP chief minister was making statements against the army.
Government Warns Long March Participants
Naqvi said anyone entering Islamabad would be committing contempt of court and vowed to end what he described as repeated attempts to advance on the capital.
He said the government would not spare those participating in the long march and would also go to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Naqvi added that the government would implement whatever decision was taken by the president and the prime minister.
