Islamabad ۔The Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) has announced the reopening of the MDCAT 2026 online registration portal, giving candidates another opportunity to complete their registration if they were unable to do so during the earlier registration period.
According to PMDC, the registration portal was reopened for five days, from August 17 to August 21, 2026, allowing candidates to complete their applications after paying the prescribed fee.
Incomplete Applications May Be Cancelled
The PMDC examination department has warned candidates that all sections of the registration form must be completed within the specified period.
The council has the authority to cancel incomplete applications. Candidates have therefore been advised to complete all required steps and submit the applicable fee within the deadline.
Applicants should also carefully review their information before final submission to avoid problems later.
When Will MDCAT 2026 Be Held?
The MDCAT 2026 examination, originally scheduled for August 16, 2026, has now been rescheduled for September 20, 2026.
The examination date was changed following directions from Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. According to PMDC, the postponement was aimed at ensuring a smooth, secure and transparent examination process.
The council said there has been no change to the syllabus or other examination requirements, with only the examination date being revised.
Around 135,000 Candidates Expected
Officials have previously informed the Senate Standing Committee’s subcommittee on Health that approximately 135,000 candidates are expected to appear in MDCAT 2026 across the country.
A total of 36 examination centres have been planned, including 35 centres in Pakistan and one centre in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
Officials also told the committee that around 1,000 complaints had reportedly been received from students regarding the examination’s date and arrangements.
Students Raise Concerns Over Syllabus and Exam Schedule
Students and parents have raised several concerns regarding MDCAT 2026, including differences between the syllabi followed by FSc and A-Level students, the time available for preparation and the possible clash between the MDCAT schedule and intermediate examinations.
Members of the committee also sought explanations from officials regarding students’ complaints and issues surrounding the examination system.
Internet Suspension in Azad Kashmir Also Created Problems
Candidates in Azad Jammu and Kashmir also faced difficulties during the registration process.
According to reports, the AJK health secretary had met PMDC officials and highlighted problems faced by students because of the prolonged suspension of internet services in the region.
The lack of internet access reportedly made it difficult for some candidates to complete the online registration process.
Students React on Social Media
The announcement regarding the reopening of the registration portal generated considerable discussion among candidates on social media.
Many students welcomed the additional opportunity after weeks of uncertainty, while some expressed concern over repeated changes to the examination schedule.
Educational pages and coaching platforms also widely shared the revised registration dates.
PMDC has advised candidates to rely only on the council’s official website and verified social media accounts for information regarding MDCAT and avoid unverified reports and social media rumours.

Important Instructions for Candidates
Candidates have been advised to provide all required information accurately during the PMDC registration process.

- CNIC or B-Form
- Matriculation certificate
- FSc result card or Hope Certificate
- Domicile certificate
- Other documents required by the council
Candidates are advised not to wait until the last day to complete the process, as technical problems or delays in fee payment could prevent them from completing their registration.
