SWAT: At least 14 people were killed and more than 15 others injured in a Suicide Bombing outside the main gate of Kabal Police Station in Kabal, Swat, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, on Sunday evening.

The blast occurred shortly after a Peace Rally calling for lasting peace in the valley had concluded, with a large number of participants still present near the police station.

According to the District Administration, rescue teams, police and other Law Enforcement Agencies rushed to the scene immediately after the explosion and shifted the injured to nearby hospitals.

Hospital Sources

Rescue 1122 spokesperson Bilal Faizi said nine bodies were brought to Saidu Sharif Central Hospital, while Kabal Hospital confirmed five deaths. Several of the injured remain in critical condition, raising fears that the death toll could increase.

Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi confirmed that the explosion was a Suicide Attack. He said police personnel displayed exceptional bravery by preventing the Suicide Bomber from entering the police station, forcing the attacker to detonate explosives outside the main entrance.

Local sources said many people were still gathered near the police station following the peace rally against rising Terrorism, which contributed to the high number of casualties.

Emergency Declared

Following the attack, the district administration declared an Emergency in all government hospitals. Assistant commissioners, officials from the Health Department, Rescue 1122, and other relevant agencies were directed to ensure the best possible medical treatment for the injured.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif expressed deep sorrow over the loss of lives and extended condolences to the bereaved families. He directed authorities to provide the best medical care to those injured and reaffirmed that Pakistan’s fight against terrorism would continue until the menace is completely eradicated.
