Pakistani showbiz stars Mahira Khan and Wahaj Ali are set to appear together on screen for the first time in their upcoming drama series ‘Mitti De Baway’. The trailer for the highly anticipated project has been released by Green Entertainment.
Story of the drama
The trailer suggests that the drama revolves around love, rivalry, revenge and action, with the central characters seemingly moving from lovers to enemies and possibly back to lovers.
Mahira Khan plays the character of Billo, who initially appears to be a young girl in love but later transforms into a strong-willed spiritual leader. Wahaj Ali plays Baala, Billo’s love interest from her youth, who returns after spending a considerable period in prison.
According to the trailer, Billo is shown as a 19-year-old girl in 1998 who falls in love with Baala. His family is believed to be cursed and unable to find lasting love.
Baala goes to prison
Baala later goes to prison for an undisclosed crime, while Billo eventually grows into a spiritual leader and gathers a group of devotees around her.
The story then moves forward to 2002, when Baala is released from prison and returns as a tougher and more dangerous man. The trailer also shows him handling firearms and involved in intense action sequences.
In one scene, Baala is seen shooting at people, while another shows him being shot in the back.
Meanwhile, Billo appears to have developed a strong dislike for her former love. In the trailer, she declares that she is now a ‘Bari Sarkaar’ and that only a man equal to her status would be suitable for her.
An intriguing twist in the story
The reunion between Baala and Billo appears to take the story in an intriguing direction. The trailer gives the impression that ‘Mitti De Baway’ could follow a lovers-to-enemies-to-lovers storyline.
However, the makers have not revealed many details about the actual plot yet.
‘Mitti De Baway’ has been directed by Syed Wajahat Hussain and written by Faiza Iftikhar.
The official release date of the drama has not yet been announced. Green Entertainment has simply described the project as ‘coming soon’
