Citizens seeking e-passports will be able to access the facility at all NADRA centers across Pakistan from September 7.
According to the spokesperson, citizens will be able to renew and obtain reprints of their e-passports from NADRA centers across the country, including Karachi.
New E-Passports to Remain Available at Passport Offices
The issuance of new e-passports, changes to existing passports and the issuance of new machine-readable passports will continue to be handled by passport offices.
Passport counters currently operating at NADRA offices will gradually be discontinued, and the staff will be called back.
The facility at NADRA centers will be provided under an agreement between the Passport Department and NADRA.
Security Features of the New E-Passport
The modern e-passport will contain an electronic chip carrying the holder’s biometric and personal data.
According to the information provided, the passport will comply with the standards of the International Civil Aviation Organization.
The e-passport will also include an NFC chip, laser engraving, infrared and ultraviolet security features.
These features are intended to make identification and verification at airports more secure and faster.
