ISLAMABAD: Pakistan and Uzbekistan have strongly condemned the attempted attack involving an unmanned aerial vehicle targeting the holy city of Makkah in Saudi Arabia, reaffirming their support for the Kingdom’s sovereignty, territorial integrity and security.
The statements from Pakistan and Uzbekistan came amid heightened tensions in the Middle East, with both countries stressing the need to protect civilians and holy sites and to pursue diplomatic efforts to prevent further escalation.

Pakistan’s Foreign Office spokesperson Sajjad Haider Khan described the reported attempt to target Makkah as a “heinous and deeply concerning” act, saying it had hurt the religious sentiments of millions of Muslims around the world.
Speaking at the weekly media briefing, the spokesperson said Pakistan stood with Saudi Arabia in safeguarding its sovereignty, peace and territorial integrity. He also strongly condemned Houthi attacks targeting Saudi civilian areas and installations.
Pakistan said it was closely monitoring the deteriorating situation in the Middle East and continued to support diplomacy and peaceful dialogue as a means of resolving regional conflicts and achieving lasting peace.

Uzbekistan also strongly condemned the attempted attack. In a statement, its Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed full solidarity with Saudi Arabia and said that any actions threatening holy sites, civilians or civilian infrastructure were unacceptable.
The Uzbek Foreign Ministry called on all sides to exercise maximum restraint, strictly comply with international law and respect the sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity of states.
It also expressed support for efforts aimed at reducing tensions, preventing the further spread of the conflict and ensuring peace, security and stability in the region.
