Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has finalised its planning for the September 27 long march to Islamabad, with party sources saying sit-ins will be held at 12 locations across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The party has planned a phased movement towards Islamabad, according to the sources. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi is expected to lead the march from Peshawar.
March Route and Sit-In Plan
According to party sources, the motorway and Grand Trunk Road will be blocked at several points in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa as part of the planned protest.
Peshawar, Khyber, Nowshera and Akora Khattak will block the Attock Bridge, while the motorway will be blocked at locations in Malakand, Swabi, Mardan and Charsadda.
A sit-in is also planned at Khushal Garh in the southern districts.
Camps Planned Across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa
Party organisations have been provided with details of the locations where camps and sit-ins are to be established.
In Haripur, camps have been identified at Hattar, Khanpur, Jhari Kas and Makhniyal, as well as along the Hazara Motorway.
In Abbottabad, Bariyan and Kohala have been identified, while a camp is planned at Topi in Swabi and another location has been identified on the M-1 Motorway.
Other Identified Locations
In Nowshera, the Khairabad Kund Attock Bridge has been identified for a camp. Camps are also planned at Kundal in Lakki Marwat and Khushal Garh in Kohat.
All members of the National and provincial assemblies and senators have been directed to participate in the camps and help make arrangements.
Districts to Provide Basic Facilities
According to party sources, each district will arrange food, drinking water and other necessary supplies for participants at the camps.
The sources said the decision to establish camps was aimed at providing facilities to party workers participating in the march.
PTI Says September 27 Date Remains Firm
Party sources said the decision to march on Islamabad on September 27 remains unchanged. Under the plan, wherever the march is stopped, participants will stage a sit-in at that location.
Chief Minister Sohail Afridi has called a meeting in Peshawar for tomorrow to discuss the final strategy for the march.
Afridi has also said publicly that the September 27 march will remain peaceful and within the Constitution and law.
