Islamabad Police has directed officers not to register unnecessary FIRs against citizens for traffic law violations. Police officials said such offences should instead be dealt with through fines as prescribed by law.
Traffic Officers Given New Instructions
According to an Islamabad Police spokesperson, DIG Islamabad Ali Wasim issued the instructions to improve traffic enforcement and the conduct of traffic officers.
The DIG directed officers not to register cases against citizens under Section 279 of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC) for traffic law violations and to impose fines in accordance with the law.
Polite Conduct with Motorists
Ali Wasim instructed traffic officers to maintain a polite, courteous and responsible attitude when dealing with motorists and to avoid registering unnecessary cases.
He also urged citizens to fully comply with traffic laws and avoid violations. He said cooperation between citizens and traffic police was essential for maintaining smooth traffic flow in the capital.

The DIG Islamabad stressed that following traffic rules is essential to ensuring a safe and peaceful travelling environment.
Islamabad Police has urged motorists to follow traffic regulations and cooperate with traffic officers to improve road safety and traffic management across the city.
