The federal government has decided to file a review petition against the Supreme Court’s order allowing former Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan to receive treatment at Shifa International Hospital.
According to Federal Law Minister Azam Nazeer Tarar, the government has reviewed the Supreme Court’s order regarding Imran Khan’s treatment at Shifa International Hospital and has also consulted relevant authorities regarding his medical examination at the hospital.
Azam Nazeer Tarar said the Supreme Court’s order was not in accordance with the laws governing convicted prisoners. He added that other aspects of the court’s order had also been examined.

Authorities action
The law minister said the relevant authorities had issued their decision regarding Imran Khan’s health, but the government would approach the Supreme Court to seek a review of the decision.
Tarar said many prisoners in jails suffer from health-related problems and that convicted prisoners are provided medical treatment at government hospitals.
The development comes after the Supreme Court heard a case concerning Imran Khan’s health and meetings with his family members and doctors.

Imran Khan’s lawyer, Uzair Karamat Bhandari, appeared before the court and requested that the PTI founder be shifted to Shifa International Hospital for treatment.
The Supreme Court accepted the request and directed that Imran Khan be shifted to Shifa International Hospital on Tuesday.
