Eight US soldiers were injured in an Iranian attack on a US vessel in the Strait of Hormuz two weeks ago, according to US media reports.
US officials have confirmed that Iranian forces targeted the American vessel with a cruise missile during the attack in the Strait of Hormuz.
Earlier US Casualty Figures
Earlier this month, The Washington Post reported that at least 22 US service members had been killed during the war with Iran.
According to the report, the number of American military deaths was higher than figures released by the Pentagon.
The United States had separately acknowledged 18 military deaths and 417 injuries during the conflict with Iran.
US Military Losses
According to the US Department of Defense Inspector General, the reported deaths occurred during the first four months of the war.
During the same period, Iranian attacks destroyed 18 US military aircraft and helicopters, along with 30 drones.
The report said that between February 28 and June 30, 2026, 11 US service members were killed during combat operations, while seven died in non-combat incidents.
