Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has described the defence alliance between Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and Türkiye as a positive development that could help strengthen unity among Muslim countries.
In an interview with Al Jazeera TV, Pezeshkian said Iran was ready to participate in efforts to bring Muslim nations closer together, although Tehran was not aware of the details of the decisions made under the Makkah Defence Pact.
Muslim Unity and Cooperation
Pezeshkian said the initiative could serve as an important step towards Islamic unity, helping Muslim countries move closer together instead of becoming divided into two groups and fighting one another.
He stressed that cooperation among Muslim nations was essential to overcoming divisions and building stronger ties across the Islamic world.
A Shared Muslim Identity
The Iranian president said Muslim countries should recognise their shared religious identity rather than focus on national or ethnic differences.
“If Muslims sit together, they must first understand that there is no Arab country, Turkish country or Iranian country; we are all Muslims,” he said.
Pezeshkian added that Allah had created humanity from a man and a woman and divided people into different nations and tribes. He said Muslims should work together to follow Allah’s commands.
