Two New Underpasses Planned in Islamabad to Ease Traffic ISLAMABAD: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) is set to build two new underpasses at Kashmir Chowk and near Faisal Masjid to improve traffic flow and reduce congestion in the capital.
The Kashmir Chowk project, estimated at Rs1.69 billion, will provide direct access towards Rawal Dam Chowk, while traffic heading towards Murree will continue over the underpass.
The tender has been issued and is scheduled to open on August 12.The second underpass will be developed at the junction of Faisal Avenue and Margalla Road and is currently in the design phase.
Officials expect the project to improve movement on one of Islamabad’s busiest routes.Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi also directed authorities to accelerate work on four new Rescue 1122 centres and fire stations in G-11, I-14, I-9 and Model Town Humak. The CDA is also expected to receive 21 new fire tenders from China this month.
