An Anti-Terrorism Court has ordered the blocking of passports belonging to 24 senior Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leaders in a case involving alleged attacks on state institutions.
The order includes Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi, former National Assembly Speaker Asad Qaiser, Sheram Tarkai, Shah Ahad, Sher Ali Arbab and Muhammad Iqbal Afridi.
Other leaders named in the court order include Dr Amjad Ali, Junaid Akbar, Shahid Khattak, Zubair Wazir, Omar Ayub, Arshad Umarzai, Zar Alam, Mian Umar, Akhtar Khan and Humayun Khan.
The court has also ordered the blocking of passports belonging to Riaz Khan, Abdul Kabir Khan, Tufail Anjum, Asif Mehsud, Ajab Gul, Muhammad Usman, Babar Saleem Swati, Irfan Saleem, Advocate Ali Zaman and Malik Shahab.
The names of the PTI leaders were included in the court order issued on September 14, 2026.
Possibility of Fleeing the Country
According to the available court record, the individuals named in the order are accused in the case.
The investigating officer told the court that the accused could flee the country to avoid legal proceedings.
The court decision states that the accused face serious allegations, including attacks on state institutions and the promotion of terrorism.
The court further noted that the accused had failed to appear before it.
Failure to Join Investigation
According to the court record, even those accused who had obtained interim bail had not joined the investigation into the case.
