Cricket Introduces Test Twenty Format Featuring Combined Scores for Boys and Girls

A new cricket format, Test Twenty, will feature separate innings for boys and girls, with both contributing to a shared team score. The tournament will take place in Colombo, Sri Lanka, from November 14 to 29, 2026.

Urdu Report Desk

Cricket is set to introduce a new format called Test Twenty, in which boys and girls will play separate innings but contribute to the same overall team score.

The tournament will be held in Colombo, Sri Lanka, from November 14 to 29, 2026. According to the organisers, 160 young cricketers aged between 13 and 21 will participate in the event, representing four continental teams.

Four Continental Teams to Compete

Each team will comprise 40 players, including 20 boys and 20 girls. The format will see boys compete against boys and girls face other girls in their respective matches.

However, the result of each match will be determined by the combined scores of both the boys’ and girls’ innings, making the format a distinctive approach to mixed-gender team competition.

An 80-Over Match Format

Each match will consist of 80 overs, divided into two 40-over sessions with different playing conditions.

The first 40 overs will be played during the day using a red ball, with players wearing traditional white clothing. The remaining 40 overs will take place under floodlights, using a white ball and coloured clothing.

Final Scheduled for November 29

The tournament will be staged at the Sinhalese Sports Club in Colombo, with the final scheduled for November 29, 2026.

All matches are expected to be broadcast live on the Sony Sports Network, allowing cricket fans to follow the competition.
