Police in Rawalpindi have arrested five suspects, including the father of TikToker Shamsu alias Ayesha Gulmina, in connection with her murder case.
Rawalpindi Police made a major breakthrough on Saturday in the murder investigation of social media influencer Shamso Bibi, also known as Ayesha Gilamana, arresting five suspects, including the victim’s father and brother.
According to the police spokesperson, the case initially appeared to be a blind and difficult-to-trace murder. However, investigators managed to identify the suspects through forensic evidence, human intelligence and technical surveillance.
The arrested suspects include Ayesha Gilamana’s father, brother, a cousin, her father’s uncle and the son of her cousin. Police said further investigation is underway to determine the exact motive and circumstances surrounding the killing.
Five Suspects Arrested
According police sources the arrested suspects include Ayesha Gulmina’s father, her brother, a cousin, her father’s uncle and the son of her cousin.
Police said the suspects were arrested after an extensive investigation into the killing.
TikToker Shot Dead on August 14
Shamsu Bibi, also known as Ayesha Gulmina, was shot dead on August 14 within the jurisdiction of Taxila police station.
She was reportedly travelling with her siblings to her father’s home in Faisal Town when unidentified motorcycle riders opened fire on their vehicle. A bullet struck Ayesha in the neck, killing her on the spot.
Her brother and sister were also injured in the attack, while the vehicle crashed into a dumper following the firing.
Police Suspect Honour Killing
SSP Operations Tariq Mehboob said preliminary investigations suggested that the killing may have been carried out in the name of honour.
He said more revelations could emerge as the investigation progresses. Police teams reviewed more than 100 CCTV cameras and used other investigative and intelligence sources to identify the suspects.
According to police, the suspects allegedly confessed to arranging Ayesha’s murder with the involvement of their accomplices.
Initial FIR Had Different Claim
The FIR, registered on the complaint of Ayesha’s father, initially stated that she had been killed over a financial dispute.
According to the FIR, Ayesha had reportedly told her family that two individuals owed her money and had allegedly threatened to kill her.
Her brother Rahmatullah had also claimed that the murder was linked to a financial dispute. However, police later included Ayesha’s father and other family members in the investigation.
Ayesha Had 1.3 Million Followers
According to the FIR, Ayesha had been active on TikTok for around three to four years and had approximately 1.3 million followers.
Her brother said she was one of ten siblings and had three children. He added that she lived in a rented house in Islamabad rather than with her parents.
Police said further investigation is underway, and the final circumstances behind the murder will become clearer as the case progresses.
