Lahore police have arrested the second main suspect in the alleged gang rape of a foreign a 20-year-old Azerbaijani woman in the Defence area, while a woman has also been detained on allegations of facilitating the incident.
Police said the suspect was taken into custody from Chishtian, after which Defence Investigation Police brought him to Lahore.
Victim’s Statement Recorded in Court
The detailed statement recorded by the foreign woman under Section 164 before the court has also emerged. In her statement, she accused three individuals of alleged rape, blackmail and threats.
According to the statement, two women took the victim to a private housing society, where two men initially arrived, followed by two more individuals.
The woman alleged that she was taken into a room and given a drink containing an intoxicating substance, after which she was allegedly assaulted.
An FIR registered at Defence C Police Station states that a 20-year-old Azerbaijani woman told police she was a resident of Baku and had arrived in Pakistan around 15 to 20 days earlier for business purposes.
According to the FIR, the woman said that between 11pm and midnight on September 25, two unidentified women approached her and invited her to dinner at an unidentified café.
She told police that three unidentified men were present at the location and that she could identify them.
The FIR states that the men later took her to an unidentified apartment on the pretext of going out. The woman alleged that the three suspects mixed a substance that caused unconsciousness into alcohol and assaulted her one after another.
The woman further told police that the suspects dropped her near Ghazi Interchange at around 2pm on September 26 and fled. She alleged that the suspects also kept her iPhone 13 and Redmi phone.
According to the FIR, the woman borrowed a phone from a passerby at the scene and contacted police.
Police registered the case under Section 375-A of the Pakistan Penal Code, which relates to rape.
Woman Detained Over Alleged Facilitation
Police sources said photographs have surfaced showing the victim sitting with the arrested woman at a café in Johar Town.
Police are also investigating the alleged role of the detained woman in facilitating the incident.
Investigation Continues
Police said the victim’s two mobile phones have not yet been recovered, while raids are continuing at different locations to arrest the third main suspect.
One of the main suspects in the case had already been arrested.
Police said the investigation has entered its final stages and that further facts are expected to emerge soon. The alleged incident involving the foreign woman took place three days ago, and further investigation is underway.
