Preparations for the SAF Games in Islamabad have accelerated after the CDWP approved a Rs5.7 billion sports infrastructure package.
The funding was approved at a meeting chaired by Federal Minister for Planning Ahsan Iqbal. It will be used to upgrade sports facilities in Islamabad and other cities.
Sports Facilities Upgrade
The package includes upgrades to the Pakistan Sports Complex in Islamabad and sports facilities in other cities.
The sports centers will be developed according to SAF Games standards.
Funding Gets Approval
The funding was approved during a meeting chaired by Federal Minister for Planning Ahsan Iqbal.
The approval covers the sports infrastructure required for preparations for the SAF Games.
Projects To Be Completed
Secretary of the Ministry of Inter-Provincial Coordination Mohiuddin Ahmed Wani described approval of the package as an important achievement.
He said timely implementation and completion of the SAF Games projects would be ensured.
Focus On Islamabad
The Pakistan Sports Complex in Islamabad is among the facilities covered by the approved package.
Sports facilities in other cities will also be upgraded as part of the preparations.
When Will the SAF Games Start in Islamabad?
The 2027 South Asian Games, officially known as the XIV South Asian Games, are an upcoming international multi-sport event sanctioned by the South Asia Olympic Council.
The Games are scheduled to be held from April 3 to 11, 2027, in Islamabad, Lahore and Peshawar, Pakistan.
