A Lahore Anti-Rape Court has sentenced a man to 10 years in prison in a case involving allegations of forced Unnatural sexual assault against his wife.
Additional District and Sessions Judge Zafaryab Chadhar announced the verdict . The court convicted Muhammad Farooq and sentenced him to 10 years of rigorous imprisonment.
The court also imposed a fine of Rs50,000. If he fails to pay the fine, he will serve an additional six months in prison.
Court further order
Farooq was further ordered to pay Rs300,000 in compensation to his former wife. According to the prosecution, the couple divorced after the incident.
The court directed the superintendent of Kot Lakhpat Jail in Lahore to keep Farooq imprisoned until he completes his sentence. However, the time he already spent in custody during the trial will be deducted from the 10-year sentence.
Following the verdict, Farooq was transferred to Kot Lakhpat Jail.
How the case began
The case was registered at Kahna Police Station in May 2025 on a complaint filed by the woman’s former father-in-law.
According to the FIR, the complainant lived in Lahore’s Youhanabad area and his daughter married Muhammad Farooq on February 23, 2025.
The complainant alleged that Farooq used drugs and sexual medicines. He further alleged that Farooq began forcing his wife into non-consensual unnatural sexual acts from the first night of their marriage and lady admitted to hospital.
Prosecution and defence arguments
Prosecutor Rizwan Mahmood told the court that the accused deserved a severe punishment.
He said the woman suffered psychological trauma.
What the law says
According to lawyer , the FIR invoked Section 376 of the Pakistan Penal Code where the provision carries a minimum sentence of 10 years and a maximum of 25 years in prison.
Khan also said anti-rape crisis cells providing medical services, legal assistance and police reporting facilities for women are operating at government hospitals in Lahore.
