India defeated defending champions Sri Lanka by 72 runs in the Women’s Asia Cup final in Dubai to win the title. However, the Indian women’s cricket team reportedly refused to receive the trophy from Asian Cricket Council (ACC) President Mohsin Naqvi.
India Set a Strong Target
After winning the toss, India elected to bat first and posted 183 for five in their allotted overs.
Openers Shafali Verma and Smriti Mandhana put together an impressive 129-run partnership. Verma scored 68 runs, while Mandhana contributed 59.Richa Ghosh added 17 runs, and captain Harmanpreet Kaur scored 14.
For Sri Lanka, Muthali Ayodhya, Chamari Athapaththu and Chamodi Praboda took one wicket each.

Sri Lanka Bowled Out for 111
Chasing a target of 184, Sri Lanka were bowled out for 111 on the final delivery of the 20th over.Captain Chamari Athapaththu top-scored for Sri Lanka with 36 runs, while Nilakshika Silva contributed 22.
India’s Shree Charani claimed four wickets, while Deepti Sharma took three to play a key role in securing the victory.
Trophy Presentation Becomes Controversial
Despite winning the title, the Indian team reportedly refused to accept the trophy from ACC President Mohsin Naqvi, who was the chief guest at the Women’s Asia Cup final.
The incident has once again sparked controversy surrounding India’s conduct at a cricket tournament and allegations of a breach of sporting spirit.
Last year, India’s men’s cricket team had also reportedly refused to receive the trophy from Mohsin Naqvi.
