Karachi: Pakistan’s auto market witnessed a mixed trend in July 2026, with the latest sales figures showing a sharp contrast between popular budget-friendly cars and expensive SUVs.

According to the latest PAMA report, sales of several small cars and Toyota models increased significantly, while demand for several SUVs and crossovers dropped sharply.
Overall car sales in July were around 19% lower than in June, although the performance varied considerably across different models.

Toyota strong comeback

Toyota Makes a Strong Comeback
The most notable performance came from the Toyota Corolla, Yaris and Corolla Cross. Combined sales of these three models increased from 2,650 units in June to 4,283 units in July.
This represents a significant 61.6% month-on-month increase in sales.
Meanwhile, combined sales of the Toyota Fortuner and Hilux declined from 857 units to 806 units.

Sukumi cars sale

Suzuki Alto Remains Pakistan’s Best-Selling Car.

The Suzuki Alto once again remained Pakistan’s best-selling car, highlighting the continued demand for affordable and fuel-efficient vehicles.

A total of 7,217 Alto units were sold in July, compared with 7,239 units in June. Despite the slight decline, the Alto retained its leading position in the market.

The Suzuki Swift also delivered a strong performance, with sales rising from 1,668 units to 2,018 units, representing a 21% increase.
Suzuki Fronx Sales Fall to Zero
July was not entirely positive for Suzuki. The Suzuki Fronx, which recorded 1,717 units in sales in June, reported zero sales in July according to the PAMA figures.

Sales of the Suzuki Cultus also declined from 439 to 392 units, while Suzuki Every sales increased slightly from 480 to 493 units.
Expensive SUVs Take a Major Hit
Pakistan’s SUV market faced significant pressure in July.

Sale dropped

Combined Haval/Tank sales plunged from 2,720 units to just 663 units, representing a 75.6% decline.

Similarly, Hyundai Santa Fe sales dropped by around 79.8%, Honda BR-V and HR-V sales declined by 70.6%, while Hyundai Tucson sales fell by 68.8%.

The figures suggest that consumers were more inclined toward relatively affordable and practical vehicles during the month rather than expensive SUVs.
Honda City and Civic Remain Relatively Stable
Combined sales of the Honda City and Civic stood at 2,529 units in July, compared with 2,594 units in June.
This represents a relatively modest 2.5% decline, showing that demand for these popular Honda models remained largely stable compared with several other vehicles.

Honri-Ve Electric

Honri-Ve Electric Car Sales Surge
The growing interest in electric vehicles was also reflected in July’s sales figures.
Sales of the Honri-Ve increased from just 20 units in June to 48 units in July, representing a significant 140% increase.
What Do the July Sales Figures Tell Us?
The latest PAMA figures suggest that Pakistani car buyers are increasingly paying attention to vehicle prices, fuel economy and running costs.

While vehicles such as the Suzuki Alto and Swift maintained strong demand, several expensive SUVs experienced significant declines. At the same time, the sharp increase in sales of the Toyota Corolla, Yaris and Corolla Cross represents an important shift in the market.

Vehicle prices, auto financing, economic conditions and the arrival of new models will likely play a key role in determining the direction of Pakistan’s auto market in the coming months
