Pakistan cricketers Imam-ul-Haq and Mohammad Rizwan appeared before the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) at its Lahore office on Thursday.
The players were summoned in connection with an investigation into alleged dressing room leaks during Pakistan’s England series. Both cricketers requested additional time to submit their responses.
According to the source, the players will provide written replies to the NCCIA.
Mobile phones
Sources said the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) had handed over the mobile phones of both players to the NCCIA. The agency is expected to have the devices unlocked as part of its investigation.
The investigation will examine information obtained from the players’ mobile phones in relation to the reported dressing room leaks during the England series.
PCB sources said the board would not comment on the matter at this stage because the inquiry is still ongoing. They also said unverified and baseless reports were circulating about players and officials.
NCCIA summon
The NCCIA had earlier summoned national cricketers Imam-ul-Haq and Mohammad Rizwan. According to sources, the agency will investigate information obtained from the players’ mobile phones. The PCB has not so far disclosed the reason for handing over the devices.
Earlier, the PCB announced an internal inquiry into alleged disciplinary violations by players during the England tour.
According to a PCB spokesperson, matters related to disciplinary violations by national players during the tour are being reviewed.
The PCB said the inquiry would consider the positions of all relevant individuals along with available evidence. The board also stated that reports circulating on social media were baseless and urged the public to rely only on official PCB statements.
