Oman has introduced a free 14-day tourist visa aimed at boosting the tourism sector and making short-term travel easier. Under the new decision, eligible foreign nationals will be able to stay in Oman for two weeks without paying any visa fee.
According to Omani officials, the free visa will only be available to citizens of countries approved by the relevant government authority. However, an official list of these countries has not yet been released, so it remains unclear which nationalities will be able to benefit from this facility.
Facility for Eligible Visa Holders
Under the new regulations, if a traveler arriving on the free 14-day visa wishes to extend their stay, they can apply for another Oman Tourist Visa (14 days) before their current visa expires. To do so, applicants must meet all relevant conditions and pay the prescribed fee. Notably, some applicants will not need to leave Oman in order to obtain the new visa.
The Omani government says the initiative aims to attract more tourists to the country and encourage short holidays, family visits, and recreational trips ,benefiting both the tourism sector and the local economy.
The decision was published in Oman’s official gazette on August 2, 2026, and came into effect starting August 3, 2026.

According to official documents, under Article 29 of the Executive Regulations, amendments to the entry visa fee schedule have added the 14-day Oman Tourist Visa as a separate category. The fee for this visa has been set at zero Omani rial, meaning eligible applicants will not be charged any visa fee at all.
