LAHORE: Three police personnel, including two serving constables and one former officer, have been booked for allegedly kidnapping a young man for ransom in Lahore’s Township area.
According to police, the Township Police registered a case against the suspects after an internal inquiry found them guilty. The FIR includes charges of wrongful confinement, extortion, abuse of authority, and other relevant offences.
The FIR states that the three suspects, dressed in police uniforms, allegedly identified themselves as officers of the CCD Model Town unit before abducting the victim.
Investigation
Investigators said the suspects repeatedly threatened to kill the victim in a fake police encounter if the ransom was not paid.
The victim’s family allegedly paid Rs250,000 to secure his release.
The accused have been identified as Constable Aqeel, Constable Ghaffar, and former police officer Rafaqat. All three have been taken into custody and lodged in police lock-up while further legal proceedings continue. The effectives requested the authority to take action.
